Harry Kane has been speaking to the press (via Football.London) and opened up on the lasting effects of his penalty miss in the World Cup quarter-final against France last month.
The 2022 World Cup ended in heartbreak for England and Kane, as the Three Lions’ captain missed a crucial penalty in the dying embers of the last-eight clash with France.

Having already scored from the spot earlier in the second half to bring England back into the game, Kane then fired over his second spot-kick.
England went on to lose the game 2-1 and France progressed to the final in Qatar. It will forever be a ‘what if’ moment for Kane and his country, but it seems the star striker hasn’t let the pain of that penalty miss hold him back.
Kane has three goals to his name since the domestic season resumed on Boxing Day, taking his tally to 16 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt).
The 29-year-old is determined to use that penalty miss to his advantage, and insists it has only made him more hungry for success with club and country.
Kane said: “Of course, it was a tough moment for me personally. It’s never an easy thing to go through but it’s part of football, part of the highs and lows of our sport.
“I had a bit of time away after just to reflect and it’s made me even more hungry to come back and be successful. So nights like tonight are always good for me and the team and it was much needed after the last couple of results as well.
“After it happened I just wanted to play again as quick as possible and get it out of my head. It’s something you have to deal with, I’ll probably remember it for the rest of my life but that’s part of the game.
“It’s not going to affect me as a player or as a person. I’ll keep working hard to improve and it was nice to come back and get our first win since coming back.”

As expected, that penalty miss has not affected Kane’s mentality, or at least not negatively. He looks fired up and ready to prove his worth for Spurs right now, and long may that continue. I just hope he can have something to show for all his efforts and win a trophy with us at some point.
