Tottenham Hotspur still remain interested in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on loan, according to the Evening Standard.

Tottenham have already signed Clement Lenglet from Barcelona on a season-long loan move (Daily Mail) to bolster their central defensive ranks. However, they have parted ways with Joe Rodon, who left to join Stade Rennes until the end of the season with an option to make the move permanent for £17million (The Sun).

However, Spurs could lose another centre-back in this window with Japhet Tanganga having been linked with a move to AC Milan and Nottingham Forest (Alasdair Gold).

Antonio Conte has already stressed that Spurs would need to bring in replacements if players who are in his plans depart this summer (Football.London).

RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma are all also interested in taking Chalobah on loan, but Chelsea are in no rush to see the player leave until they sign a new defender.

The Stamford Bridge outfit are said to have verbally agreed a deal for Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana for a fee believed to be £70m plus add-ons (Sky Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion:

Maintaining squad depth is quite important for Tottenham if they hope to get through the congested fixture list that awaits them in this campaign. However, it remains to be seen if Thomas Tuchel’s team or Chalobah himself would entertain Spurs’ proposal due to their bitter rivalry.

The 23-year-old central defender would be a sound acquisition on Tottenham’s part as Chalobah has proved his worth last season. He is yet to feature even once this campaign (Transfermarkt), and perhaps a move to N17 could tempt him to accept Spurs’ offer.
