The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg has reported that there is now a ‘good chance’ that Conor Gallagher leaves Chelsea this summer amidst Tottenham’s continued interest.

Multiple outlets have stated over the last few weeks that Tottenham are eyeing Gallagher, who could be deemed surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

The latest such update came from The Telegraph on 12 July, with the publication claiming that Spurs are on the lookout for a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is expected to depart.

The report suggested that the North London club had identified the Chelsea star as the man to take the Dane’s place in the squad but it was revealed that the Blues were demanding as much as £50m for the England international.

Spurs have held talks with Chelsea for Gallagher

Steinberg has now reported that Tottenham have already held talks with Chelsea regarding Gallager’s availability.

The publication adds that there are major doubts over the future of the Chelsea academy graduate since he has just two years left on his contract at the West London club.

However, it is explained that Tottenham face plenty of competition for Gallagher, with West Ham also keen on the player while Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Newcastle have also looked at the 23-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s decision on whether to pursue a midfielder would come down to whether Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is sold and Pape Matar Sarr is loaned out.

If both those players are offloaded, I fully expect the North Londoners to put in a bid for the Chelsea star.
