Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that not a single Wales player would make it into the England squad, insisting that he would prefer Harry Maguire over Ben Davies.
As always, there has been plenty of controversy surrounding England’s 26-man squad for the World Cup, with one of the main talking points being Maguire’s selection despite the centre-back’s lack of game time at Manchester United (Express).
Kyle Walker is not expected to be fit for England’s opening game against Iran on 21 November (MEN), which means that Maguire could start alongside Eric Dier and John Stones if Gareth Southgate opts for a back three.
England will also play Wales in the group stage and Agbonlahor believes that not a single Welsh player would get into the Three Lions set-up.
The former Aston Villa striker said that he would even pick the likes of Ivan Toney and Jarrod Bowen over Gareth Bale, and when Dean Saunders asked him who he would take between Davies and Maguire, Agbonlahor named the latter.

❌ “No Welsh player gets anywhere near England’s best 30 players.”
👀 “I would pick Ivan Toney or Jarrod Bowen before Gareth Bale.”
✅ “I would pick Harry Maguire ahead of #THFC’s Ben Davies!”

Spurs Web Opinion
I believe that Davies will get into the England squad as Southgate prefers to play a back three and I do not see any other left-sided centre-back in the England squad better than the Spurs man.
While I can understand where Agbonlahor is coming from about Bale, given that the winger is past his best, I still think you would want a clutch player like him over someone like Bowen or Rashford.
