Gareth Bale has wished Wrexham the best after their recent takeover but joked that he does not see himself moving to the club anytime soon.

The club based in the north of Wales have been making the headlines in recent weeks after Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had been pursuing a takeover of the club.

The takeover was completed after 98.6% of members of the Wrexham Supporters Trust voted in favour of it going through (Guardian).

Reynolds and McElhenney reportedly plan to make a ‘global force’ in the future but they have plenty of work to do, with the club finishing 19th in the National League last season.

It is normal for fans to dream of big-name signings after a takeover of this magnitude goes through but one player who will not be heading to the club anytime soon is Gareth Bale.

The Welsh superstar did admit that he was pleased for the club but admitted that he did not see himself going there.

The Tottenham winger told Sky Sports: “Hopefully it’s good for Wrexham.

“I haven’t read too much about it, but I have read about it.

“Hopefully they do good things for Wrexham and get them back into the Football League. It’s a bit too far for me, from Cardiff!”
