Antonio Conte has revealed that Ben Davies is back in training ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Brentford on Boxing Day, now that the World Cup in Qatar is finished.
The Spurs boss also confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur should be okay to return on New Year’s Day against Aston Villa after picking up an injury for Uruguay in the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Richarlison is set to go for an MRI scan this week to provide more information on the injury he picked up on Brazil duty in Qatar.
There was no word on whether the likes of Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic, or Cristian Romero would be available for Boxing Day, after all three went the distance at the World Cup. Romero ended up lifting the trophy, with Lloris in second place, and Perisic winning the third-place play-off.
Conte said (via SPURS Play): “Ben Davies is okay and started to work with us last week. He has recovered.
“Rodrigo has started to work. I think that he’s going to be good for the game against Aston Villa. For Richy, tomorrow he’s going to have an MRI (scan) to know very well the importance of the injury. After tomorrow we will see very well the time he needs to recover.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
As annoying as the Richarlison injury is, coming through the World Cup with just one bad injury would be a bit of a result for Tottenham, especially with the January transfer window providing a chance to strengthen the forward line too.
