According to Sky Sports (13/06/22 – 22:49), Tottenham Hotspur may snap up Hellas Verona left-back Destiny Udogie this summer before loaning him back out.
Udogie, who spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Udinese, scored five goals and provided three assists across the campaign, featuring both at left-back and left wing-back (Transfermakrt).
Gianluca Di Marzio was the first to report on Tottenham’s interest in the 19-year-old last week, with the journalist revealing that the North London club could face competition from Inter Milan.
The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) reported on Monday that Udinese are expected to take up the £3.6m option to buy Udogie permanently.
The report added that the teenager has received two offers from France while also being the subject of an enquiry from Spurs, with the player’s entourage set to have a meeting with Udinese owner Gino Pozzo this week to sort out his future.
Sky Sports have now revealed that Tottenham could look to snap up Udogie before sending him out on loan just as they did with Pape Matar Sarr last summer.
They also claim that the left-back’s representatives are now in London and have met with Fabio Paratici, with the Spurs managing director of football working to lower Udinese’s valuation.

Fabio Paratici has shown that he likes taking a punt on up-and-coming young talent and so, this move would not come as a surprise despite Spurs snapping up Ivan Perisic, and having Ryan Sessegnon in their books.
Udogie will probably be loaned out if Spurs win the race for him, and the North London club might view the youngster as a potential option to take over from Perisic a couple of years down the line.
