Inter Milan could beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie, if Gianluca di Marzio‘s latest update is to be believed.
It was Di Marzio who first reported last week that Tottenham were interested in Udogie, who completed a permanent move to Udinese this summer after impressing on loan at the club during the 2021/22 season.
Spurs’ interest in the 19-year-old was subsequently backed up by Corriere dello Sport (13/06/22 via Sport Witness), who suggested that the North Londoners could sign the youngster and loan him back to the Serie A.
The report claimed the Udinese starlet’s agent had met with Fabio Paratici in London and Spurs were trying to negotiate down the Serie A club’s asking price.
However, if Di Marzio’s latest update is to be believed, Udogie’s representatives have now also met with Inter Milan to discuss the possibility of a move to the San Siro this summer.
The report claims that Udinese are not willing to budge on their asking price of €20m (£17.3m) and that the Nerazzurri have reiterated to the player’s agent that they would like to sign the teenager.
Spurs Web Opinion
Fabio Paratici is not just trying to strengthen the first team this summer but is also scouring the continent for the best young talent.
Tottenham would have likely viewed Udogie as a player who could perhaps replace Perisic in a couple of years’ time.
However, Inter could likely promise the 19-year-old first-team football next season, which might give them a big advantage over Spurs.
