Destiny Udogie has been looking ahead to Tottenham’s next game, against Manchester United, and had plenty of praise for his new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Udogie signed for Spurs last summer from Udinese, but remained with the Italian side for the 2022/23 campaign. He registered three goals and four assists last season (Transfermarkt).
Now, the youngster is in North London full-time, and despite being signed during Antonio Conte’s reign, he now has a different manager to impress.
Ange Postecoglou has instilled a wave of optimism around the football club since his arrival this summer. Long gone are the doldrums of defensive football, replaced by promises of an attacking, entertaining style of play.
It is this approach, plus Postecoglou’s general easy-going demeanour, which has won over many of the Spurs fans so quickly. Even the departure of Harry Kane has not dampened the spirits of the fan base quite as much as many had expected.
After a 2-2 draw away at Brentford in the opening game of the campaign, Tottenham next face Manchester United in what will be a true test of Postecoglou’s methods.
Udogie feels secure in Postecoglou’s approach
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of that game, Destiny Udogie was full of praise for his manager and insisted Spurs will try to use their home advantage on Saturday evening.
He said: “The manager is a great manager. He knows what he is doing, he is sure, and we feel secure with him. He is a nice manager and one message [he gives us] is to believe in his work and keep doing what we are doing.
“Manchester United we know are a very good team. But, we are playing at home, so we have to be focused on ourselves, have a good game and bring home three points.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Wherever we finish this season, it seems Ange Postecoglou has already succeeded where the past few Spurs managers have failed and that is in uniting the squad and the fan base and simply making people happy again.
