Speaking after the 5-2 win against Burnley this weekend, Destiny Udogie was full of praise for his Tottenham Hotspur teammates and the mentality of the squad.
Destiny Udogie may have technically been a Spurs player for more than a year now, but we are only just getting to see what the young Italian is capable of.
Fresh off the back of a loan spell with his former club Udinese last season, Udogie is now back in North London and has made an incredibly impressive start to his Tottenham career.
Indeed, it’s been a great start to the season for everyone at Spurs. Ange Postecoglou‘s side remain unbeaten in the league after four games, and it’s safe to say the Australian’s brand of entertaining football is pleasing the fans.
Spurs found themselves trailing at Turf Moor on Saturday after just four minutes, but fought back to claim all three points in style. Goals from Cristian Romero, James Maddison, and a Heung-min Son hat-trick sealed the victory for the away side on the day.
Destiny Udogie is loving life at Spurs
Speaking to SPURSPLAY after the game, Udogie lavished praise on the players around him, and also revealed how happy he is with his own start to life in the Premier League.
On the performance against Burnley, Udogie said: “It was a good game. We didn’t start good, but as a team, we were very humble, we worked hard and we got the result together… we were strong mentally… when we get confidence we play really good football, and we just have to keep improving.”
Udogie took some time to celebrate his teammates, too, adding: “[Romero’s goal] was an amazing goal. Just before half-time, it was really important and he helped us a lot…
“And Sonny, is an amazing player, I am very happy for him and he helped us win today. [Sonny] is a real leader… he showed a strong mentality on the pitch.”
When asked about his own adjustment to the English game, Udogie said: “I’m happy with my start. I’m training hard. I just want to prove myself every day, show my ability, and keep going… hopefully, I can just play many games and keep going.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Destiny Udogie has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, and has slotted into the squad perfectly. For such a young man he seems to talk with such maturity, and it’s great that he recognises the performances of his teammates.
