Destiny Udogie could be worth £100m in the future. That’s according to journalist James Maw, who was full of praise for the Tottenham Hotspur starlet.
Watching Destiny Udogie this season, it’s easy to forget he has actually been a Tottenham player since the summer of 2022.
Signed from Udinese for an initial £15m (The Athletic), Udogie remained with his former club for the 2022/23 campaign. The youngster lit up Serie A with three goals and four assists from the left-back position (Transfermarkt).
Udogie has picked up right where he left off since returning to North London. The Italian has started all four league games under Ange Postecoglou, and has been integral to the club’s unbeaten start to the season.
With two assists in his last two games (Transfermarkt) it’s clear that Udogie has adapted quickly to the English game. With the likes of Heung-min Son and James Maddison ahead of him, Udogie is clearly enjoying the attacking nature of this new-look Spurs side.
How far can Destiny Udogie go?
Udogie has now attracted high praise from James Maw, who was speaking on The Athletic podcast about the potential the 20-year-old has.
Maw said: “Udogie, I’m really staggered by how good he’s been. And to me, this is going to sound mad after four games, but he already looks like one of the better players in the Premier League.
“For a player in that position, we’ve seen Gareth Bale and this is a slightly lazy comparison given it’s based entirely on position, but we’ve seen a left-back go on to be one of the best footballers in world football over the course of like a five, six-year period.
“He will be a £100m player like that. Udogie, incredibly good, he’s only going to get better.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It has been such a promising start to his Spurs career, and the frightening thing is, Udogie doesn’t really seem to have stepped out of first gear yet. The lad is full of confidence, has a very mature head on his shoulders, and has all the talent he needs to be a huge success.
