Ian Wright has admitted that he is excited to see Destiny Udogie in the flesh at the Emirates on the back of the impressive start that the left-back has made to his Tottenham career.
Both Spurs and Arsenal go into the North London Derby high on confidence. The game might well be dictated by some big one-on-one clashes including Bissouma vs Rice, Maddison vs Odegaard, Son vs Saliba and Jesus vs Romero.
However, instead of those big names, Wright has now picked out Udogie as the one who is looking forward to watching the most, stating that the 20-year-old’s performances have gone a bit under the radar this season.
Ian Wright can’t wait to watch Destiny Udogie play
The Italian, who was signed by Spurs in a deal worth £18m (including add-ons) in the summer of 2022 before being loaned back to Udinese last season, has hit the ground running in the Premier League.
Wright admitted that he has been impressed with the youngster’s defensive work and his ability to progress the ball up the pitch.
The Arsenal legend said on the Wrighty’s House Podcast: “You know someone who has to get some love as well for going under the radar, Udogie. You watch Spurs and they have put together some players that you look at and think it’s a team that are shutting up everything.
“He has given them a stability and a progression of the ball that is very impressive. The man is going under the radar. I cannot wait to see this guy, I can’t wait to see him live.”

This will be the first NLD for the likes of Vicario, Van de Ven, and Udogie and it remains to be seen if they will rise to the occasion or crumble under the extra pressure. Udogie’s battle with Saka down the Arsenal right will be crucial in dictating the result of the game.
