Football London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that the word coming out of Tottenham now seems to be downplaying a Christian Eriksen return this summer.
Eriksen will become a free agent this month when his six-month contract with Brentford runs down, and a host of Premier League clubs are said to be chasing his signature.
Gold reports that Man United, Brentford, Everton, Newcastle, Leicester, West Ham, Ajax, and a La Liga side have made contact with Eriksen. Spurs were in contact with Eriksen’s representatives two weeks ago, but have not followed up on their interest since then
Not only that, but with so many options on the table, it is no longer thought he is 100% determined to remain in London.
This comes after the Evening Standard reported Tottenham had not held formal talks with Eriksen, and Fabrizio Romano suggested the club were now concentrating on signing a centre-back, a forward and a right wing-back.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I can understand why Eriksen might want to choose elsewhere, but I don’t understand why Spurs wouldn’t push extremely hard to resign him. It’s a free transfer, he has shown his class over the last six months, and Spurs need a creative midfielder to add options to the squad.
