Tottenham remain the most likely destination for Christian Eriksen this summer, according to ESPN.
The 30-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the month after his short spell with Brentford following a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last year.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla previously reported that Eriksen has decided to leave the Bees in search of a new challenge, which opened the door to a host of interested clubs.
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Eriksen’s agents about a potential switch to Old Trafford (Sky Sports).
Spurs have also been noted as potential suitors in re-signing Eriksen (Sky Sports) but despite communicating with his representatives a fortnight ago, Antonio Conte’s side have not followed up their interest and are playing down a potential return (Football.London).
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Fabio Paratici is instead prioritising a right-wing-back, centre-back, and a forward. Tom Barclay also claimed Conte is happy with his current midfield options in N17, which is why Spurs are avoiding a move for Eriksen.
ESPN now report that Eriksen would prefer to remain in London which makes Tottenham his most likely destination.
Eriksen played for Spurs between 2013 and 2020 before he joined current head coach Conte at Inter Milan.
He emerged as a vital piece of the team and became a fan favourite in North London, notching 69 goals and 90 assists in over 300 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the fact Eriksen would be a free transfer and would add quality in areas that Tottenham are currently lacking, the club need to make sure they keep close attention to him.
United are an obvious threat given what they will be able to offer, but no doubt Spurs will keep monitoring the situation and move in when they are sure. With all the contrasting reports coming out, who knows what is really happening.
