Tottenham Hotspur full back Kieran Trippier has warned Spurs’ title rivals that it is too soon to write off the North London club’s chances of winning the league.
Tottenham Hotspur currently sit third in the Premier League 5 points off Manchester City and 9 points off Liverpool, with a game in hand on both teams.
Experts have suggested that the race for the Premier League is a two horse race between the Merseyside Club and the Manchester club but Spurs have constantly kept getting results and remain in touching distance to the two sides despite suffering several injuries.
Trippier has suggested that the North London side can still compete for the title and said that the squad has developed a real winning mentality.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old defender said, “Every single game we want to win, our mentality is to get the three points. Things are looking good and the last set of results have been perfect for us and we are in every competition at the moment.”
“It’s another long season ahead, we’re not even at Christmas yet. So I think it’s too early to tell if we are in the title race or if we are going to win the league.”
Tottenham travel to Goodison Park this afternoon in a game that will be an acid test for their title chances. Three points could prove crucial for Tottenham in a week when both Man City and Chelsea have lost at home.
