Since Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday, speculation has been running rife as to who the next Manchester United manager will be.
Based on the rumours in the press so far it seems as if former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino are the favourites for the role at United.
Since then Manchester United have appointed former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager until the end of the season.
Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp today told Sky Sports News that he expects Pochettino to take over the role at the end of the season, dubbing the Argentine the ‘special one’.
“I think Manchester United will get him. I think they will go for it and I think they will get him,” Redknapp said.
“Of course [Spurs fans should be worried] because he’s the special one, he’s a great manager that everyone would want at their club.
“Tottenham have got to do everything in their power to keep him, it’s as simple as that. He’s a very talented manager, the players adore him and play for him and you can see why Manchester United would want him.”
This comes after former Man Utd defender Gary Neville described Pochettino as the perfect man for the job earlier in the week.
Pochettino has so far been coy about the link insisting that he is focussed on his job at Tottenham. Only time will tell if the role could prove too tempting for Pochettino to resist.
