Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has insisted that rumoured Tottenham target Florian Wirtz will not leave the Bundesliga club at least until 2024.
Wirtz has developed steadily since making his senior debut for Leverkusen aged just 17 back in 2020 but the teenager has seemingly taken his game to a whole new level this season.
The attacking midfielder has found the back of the net 10 times and has provided 13 assists in all competitions so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).
The youngster’s impressive displays have also seen him being capped for Germany on four occasions this year.
SportBild reported back in October that Tottenham had sent scouts to Germany to watch Wirtz in action this season.
However, the report revealed that the north London club were not the only team scouting the German starlet, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Newcastle also credited with an interest in the player.
However, Carro has dismissed the idea of Wirtz being sold anytime soon.
When asked about the midfielder’s future, the Bayer CEO told Bild: “I don’t just expect Florian Wirtz until 2023, but at least until 2024.
“We try to keep him as long as possible. But I assume that he will not leave before 2024.”

This statement by Carro does not rule out a sale in the summer as the likes of Bayer are not in a position to turn down big offers for their players.
One would expect plenty of clubs around Europe to show interest in Wirtz this summer if the youngster continues producing the same level of performances until the end of the season.
