According to BILD, Bayer Leverkusen will demand £125m for rumoured Tottenham target Florian Wirtz if clubs come knocking at their door for the midfielder this summer.
Wirtz is having an outstanding campaign for Leverkusen, having scored 10 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).
The 18-year-old is seen as one of the next emerging stars of German football and SportBild reported a few months ago that Tottenham sent scouts to Germany to watch Wirtz in action this season.
Unfortunately for the teenager, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his side’s 1-0 loss to Koln last week and is thus expected to be out of action for several months (ESPN).
Bild have now provided an update on Wirtz’s future, explaining that Leverkusen are determined to hang on to the attacking midfielder despite his long-term injury.
The report adds that the Bundesliga club have thus slapped a £125m price tag on the German international’s head if the likes of Spurs and Liverpool should come calling for him in the summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
One would assume that the ACL injury would have probably scuppered any chance that Wirtz had of making a big move this summer. Clubs would not want to take a risk on the youngster despite the potential upsides and would probably want to wait and see how he recovers from the injury.
