Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Atalanta are still to accept Tottenham Hotspur’s bid for Cristian Romero.
It is said that both clubs held further discussions but a deal has not been reached, with Tottenham left unimpressed by the situation.
The Argentine international is reported to be eager to join Tottenham and is pushing hard to make the deal happen, however, the power rests in the hands of Atalanta.
Sky Sport Italia reported yesterday that Spurs have tabled an offer in excess of £43million to land the 23-year-old, with the Serie A outfit wanting time to secure a replacement.
To be clear. Tottenham and Atalanta had new contacts today but they’ve have still not reached an agreement for Cristian Romero. Atalanta have not accepted Spurs bid yet, Tottenham are not happy with the situation. ⚪️ #THFC
Romero hopes/wants to join Spurs. Not a done deal yet.

he wants to join Spurs and he’s forcing… he’s doing everything he can to join Tottenham. It’s about Atalanta, not about Romero

It sounds as if Atalanta are trying to make things as difficult as possible for Tottenham to try and push up the price as high as possible.
The rumours that Barcelona were also set to rival Spurs’ bid seem questionable given their financial situation at present and I would not be surprised if this has been engineered from Italy again to try to pressure the North Londoners into a deal they are not comfortable with.
