Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has spoken this afternoon about Cristian Romero’s future at the club.
Gasperini was quizzed about the Argentine who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur following Atalanta’s 2-1 pre-season friendly win against Podorne Calcio.
The 63-year-old admitted that he is yet to see Romero, following his involvement in Argentine’s successful Copa America campaign and is set to report back to the Serie A outfit on Monday for pre-season training.
Gasperini claimed that Romero’s preference on where he sees his future will be key and will have to wait to see how talks between the two clubs pan out.
Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has already claimed that the 23-year-old wants to make the move to Tottenham and is doing everything possible to try and make it happen.
Gasperini said, as quoted by Romano: “Romero will be with us on Monday and I think player decision will be important to understand his future. Then we’ve to see how negotiations between clubs will develop”.

The transfer saga is becoming drawn out and it appears that Atalanta are trying to bide their time to try and get a replacement in the door before allowing Romero to leave. This probably will not be appreciated by Spurs, who will want to get him integrated with the squad ahead of the new campaign.
