Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Crisitan Romero might not be the only new centre-back to arrive through the door at Tottenham this summer.
Over the last week, it has become clear that Tottenham are in advanced talks with Atalanta to sign Romero.
However, some sources from Italy have claimed that Spurs have to ‘up the ante’ to sign the 23-year-old after Atalanta rejected the North London club’s latest offer of €50m (£42.8m) including bonuses for the defender.
Alasdair Gold has now claimed that the Lilywhites are confident of reaching an agreement for the Argentine international but insisted that Fabio Paratici is ideally looking to add another central defender to the squad.
The journalist revealed that Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for both Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez, and could sign another centre-back if they cash in on one of the two.
He names Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix, Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic as options that Tottenham have discussed, adding that Spurs have even held talks with Sevilla over a move for Kounde.

I do expect Sanchez to be sold and for another central defender apart from Romero to be brought in. However, I doubt we would be able to afford a deal for Kounde if we land the Atalanta man. I believe Spurs are more likely to pursue Milenkovic or Lacroix rather than reigniting their pursuit of the Sevilla star.
