According to a report from Tuttosport, Atalanta are demanding €60m (£51.3m) from Tottenham for the sale of Cristian Romero.

Football.London reported on Saturday that there was growing confidence at Tottenham that a deal for Romero will be completed after Daniel Levy gave the green light to swoop for the Atalanta star.

However, reports coming out of Italy seem to suggest that Fabio Paratici still has work to do to get a deal over the line.

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Sunday that Atalanta had rejected Tottenham’s latest offer of €50m (£42.8m) including bonuses for the defender and asked the North Londoners to pay ‘€55m immediately’ (£47m) if they wish to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

Tuttosport have now put Atalanta’s valuation of Romero even higher at €60m (£51.3m).

However, the report explains that the Bergamo club are looking to cash in on the centre-back in order to raise money to pursue their own transfer targets.

It is asserted that there is a ‘strong’ feeling that a deal will be agreed between Spurs and the Serie A club.

The difference in the figures being reports in the British press and the various Italian publications might have to do with the nature of bonuses attached to the deal.

One would assume that Atalanta and Spurs are not too far apart in their valuations of the 23-year-old if the deal is as close as suggested.
