According to TuttoMercatoWeb journalist, Giacomo Iacobellis, Sevilla still hold an interest in signing Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez this summer.

Over recent weeks, reports have indicated that Tottenham have tried to use Sanchez as a makeweight in a deal for Jules Kounde.

However, it is Romero who is now thought to be Fabio Paratici’s number one centre-back target, with the North Londoners confident of sealing the Argentine international’s signing (Football.London).

Iacobellis has now asserted that Tottenham turned their attentions to the Atalanta star after failing to get a deal for Kounde over the line.

The journalist adds, however, that Sevilla’s director of football, Monchi has not lost hope of swooping for the Colombian.

Meanwhile, Diario Sevilla also reference Iacobellis’ tweet in their latest report, adding that Sevilla had previously turned down Tottenham’s offer of £30m plus Sanchez for the French defender.

The report claims that Sanchez’s departure from Spurs can be facilitated by Romero’s arrival.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Paratici is aware of Sevilla holding a strong interest in the Colombian, the Italian would likely want to use the 25-year-old as a bargaining chip to land Kounde. However, it remains to be seen if Spurs can afford to sign both Romero and the Sevilla man.
