The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could sign Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic for a cut-price fee of around €15m (£12.7m).
Cristian Romero is thought to be Tottenham’s number one centre-back target, with Fabio Paratici locked in talks with Atalanta for the centre-back’s signature.
Some sources from Italy have indicated that there is still a substantial difference between the fee Atananta are demanding and what Spurs are willing to offer for the Argentine.
The Guardian claimed on Tuesday that Spurs were not willing meet Atlanta’s £47m asking price for the 23-year-old and could instead turn their attentions to their other centre-back targets, including Milenkovic, Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Eccleshare has now taken to social media to reveal that a deal for Milenkovic would prove straightforward for Spurs to complete.
However, the journalist also stated that some close to the deal remain confident that an agreement can be reached with Atalanta for Romero despite the difference in the two clubs’ valuations.
That's not to say Romero to #THFC won't happen. Some close to the deal remain confident that a compromise will be reached on price and an agreement is not too far away.
Let's see. As it stands the two clubs are apart on their valuations.

Spurs Web Opinion
This seems to be a question of who blinks first, with Atalanta aware that Romero is Paratici’s number target and Spurs aware that the Serie A club need to cash in on the defender in order to fund moves for their transfer targets.
As long as other clubs does not enter the equation and hijack the deal, one would expect us to get it over the line within the next week or two.
