Ange Postecoglou has provided a team news update ahead of tomorrow’s match against Manchester United at this afternoon’s press conference at Hotspur Way.
Tottenham head into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw at Brentford last weekend which saw Cristian Romero give his side the lead, with Emerson Royal scoring in first-half injury time to cancel out two goals from the Bees without reply.
Romero went down following an aerial challenge with Bryan Mbeumo but remained on the pitch for a few more minutes prior to his goal and just moments after he found the back of the net.
Postecoglou moved to replace Romero with Davinson Sanchez but the Argentine was initially unwilling to come off, repeatedly signalling that he wanted to continue before reluctantly leaving the field in frustration.
Will Cristian Romero play against Man United?
The Spurs head coach will now get his first taste of English top-flight action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when they host the former Premier League champions tomorrow evening, with United having looked unconvincing in their narrow 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Erik ten Hag’s side.
Postecoglou said (Football London): “Cristian is good to go. Obviously, he’s been in the hands of the medical team going through all the protocols. He’s ticked all the boxes and felt fine all week. Aside from that, no change from last week.”
