Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Cristian Romero kissed the captain’s armband during Tottenham’s 5-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.
Romero is part of Tottenham’s brand new leadership group, with the Argentine being appointed as one of Son Heung-min’s two deputies, alongside James Maddison.
Cristian Romero is loving his Spurs captain’s duties
Spurs fans will be hoping that the leadership responsibilities help bring the best out of the centre-back, and that certainly appears to be happening at the moment.
The 25-year-old’s partnership with Micky van de Ven has all the makings of a really solid one, with Romero looking more like the player we saw during his first season at Tottenham rather than the one who seemed to be lacking in confidence last season.
When Son and Maddison were both substituted in the second half at Turf Moor, the armband was worn by Romero for the first time.
Gold has revealed that the defender gave the armband a kiss at one point as a gesture of respect for his new role and to the club.

Postecoglou has got most of his decisions spot-on so far, including his decision on appointing the new captain and vice-captains. It is evident from Romero’s body language that he is relishing the new leadership responsibility.
