The Mail have reported that Ange Postecoglou has informed Celtic of his desire to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Postecoglou just scooped the Scottish Cup this weekend, which rounded off an impressive treble for his dominant Celtic side, but that could be the end of the Australian’s journey with the Hoops.
Following the treble-winning celebrations, Postecoglou is said to have informed the Celtic directors of his wish to make a move to the Premier League with Tottenham.
There was reportedly a meeting scheduled for the Celtic staff to review the 2022/23 season today (Monday) but Postecoglou will no longer attend.
Spurs are still waiting for final talks and a green light from Celtic, but they are said to be optimistic about landing their man.
This comes after multiple sources reported over the weekend that Spurs were close to appointing the former Australia manager as their new head coach (Fabrizio Romano, Telegraph, The Athletic).
Spurs Web Opinion:
Maybe it is blind optimism, but something tells me Spurs fans are going to look back on this underwhelming decision fondly in a couple of years.
The big names have not worked in North London, but an attacking project spearheaded by a good man-manager may just do the trick.
