Feyenoord’s technical director Dennis te Kloese has said that he hopes Arne Slot is once again a wanted man next summer as that means the Eredivisie side will have done well again this season.

Tottenham seem to have hit the jackpot with the appointment of Ange Postecoglou, who has brought the feel-good factor back to N17 with the style of play he has implemented and the messages he has delivered to the media.

It is fair to say that at the moment, Spurs fans would not swap Postecoglou for any other manager but there was certainly some fortune in the way the Australian ended up at the North London club.

The Lilywhites were turned down by Slot, who chose to sign a new contract at De Kuip (The Athletic) before the Premier League side decided to turn their attention to Postecoglou instead.

Te Kloese is hopeful that the Dutch coach’s decision to turn down Tottenham will prove to be the right one.

Spurs wanted Arne Slot and Dennis te Kloese

He told 1908.nl: “We hope that his choice (Slot to stay) turns out well. To be honest, I hope we end up in the same position because that means we’re going to have a good year.”

1908.nl also assert that it was not just Slot who Spurs wanted but they also explored a move to appoint Te Kloese as their new sporting director.

When the publication asked the Feyenoord director about that, he responded: “I had no interest in going anywhere else. Personally, I don’t think it’s a moment to think about anything else.

“My family is used to the Netherlands very well. Now is not the time. Interest from Tottenham or another club or organisation is of course pleasing.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There was considerable outrage on social media when Tottenham walked away from the Slot deal and turned their attention to Postecoglou.

Levy and the club deserve credit for sticking to their guns instead of getting influenced by the embarrassing #NoToAnge movement.
