Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has once again refused to be drawn on reports linking him to the Tottenham Hotspur job after guiding his side to a domestic treble.

Celtic secured their third trophy of the season after beating Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-1 at Hampden Park and insisted that his only focus, for now, was to enjoy the celebrations of a successful campaign.

Sky Sports claimed earlier today that Tottenham are keen to hold talks with the Australian and were maintaining a respectful distance until Celtic’s final match of the season had been played.

Postecogou has emerged as a leading candidate to become the next head coach of the north Londoners who have been without a permanent appointment since the departure of Antonio Conte in late March.

Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board have taken their time with their next appointment having originally given the responsibility on a temporary basis to Cristian Stellini, who also found himself on his way back to Italy following the 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle United.

Ryan Mason, who was initially overlooked led Spurs for the remaining fixtures but could only muster an eighth place finish, which resulted in no European qualification for the first time in over a decade.

Postecoglou was asked about his future by Viaplay Sport following the victory: “I’m going on holiday on Tuesday and can’t wait. It’s felt like a long season because of the World Cup.

“It’s crazy the levels they’ve reached considering the demands on them. You could see it on our performances in the last few weeks so we all need a break.”

When pushed further on the Spurs speculation, he added: “Again, I didn’t want to talk about it. I want to enjoy this. People might think it’s selfish but I’m not thinking about anything else.

“We’ve taken a little chunk of history for ourselves. I owe it to my family and my loved ones to enjoy it and not talk about other things.

“There will be time for that and it’s not today.

“There’s always need to achieve. The day I wake up and think there’s not more to do it’s time to pack it all up. I love what I do and I’m passionate about it. I want to create and be part of special moments.”

There was one last attempt to get news out of him as he was asked if there had been any contact with Tottenham and he refused to confirm or deny by saying: “You’re talking about things which are taking me away from enjoying this and I’m not going to let it happen.”

Postecoglou is rightfully being respectful to Celtic and is not looking to rain on their parade after winning the treble.   It is likely that Tottenham will make contact with him before he heads off on holiday to at least get the ball rolling over a move to the Premier League.
