According to The Athletic, Tottenham are now close to appointing Ange Postecoglou as the club’s next full-time head coach at the start of an important transfer window.
The report claims that Spurs will be looking to complete the deal in the coming days after their managerial hot seat has been filled by interim coaches, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason, since Antonio Conte‘s departure.
Postecoglou is coming off the back of a treble-winning season with Celtic, having lifted the Scottish Cup this weekend, but his previous managerial experience comes from Australia and Japan, rather than any of the top five European leagues.
ESPN reported recently that the Australian coach was expected to meet with Tottenham the week after the Scottish Cup Final about a potential North London switch.
Alan Nixon then added via his Patreon that Postecoglou would hold talks with Daniel Levy on Monday, and would be looking for positive first impressions before committing to the Spurs job.
Spurs Web Opinion:
The fans wanted Pochettino or Nagelsmann, so anyone else who came into the job was always going to face backlash from the fans. I hope people at least give Postecoglou a chance. You really never know where success is going to come from, and he at least brings a brand of attacking football.
