Sport have revealed that Saudi Arabian clubs have reached out to convey their interest in signing Ansu Fati, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
During the final few days of the summer transfer window, there were some suggestions that Spurs could win the race for Fati (Sky Sports), but the Barcelona star eventually ended up joining Brighton on a season-long loan, with the North London club snapping up Brennan Johnson instead.
Fati has made an impressive start to his spell at the Amex Stadium, having scored twice in five Premier League appearances so far (Transfermarkt).
The Seagulls do not have the option to sign him permanently, and according to The Daily Express, Tottenham may try again to sign the player next summer, with Ange Postecoglou alleged to be a fan of the 20-year-old.
Saudi clubs and Spurs are interested in Ansu Fati
However, if Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs might have some tough competition to contend with for Fati’s signature, with Saudi Pro League clubs alleged to have reached out regarding their interest in the youngster.
The report states that while the Spain international views a move to the Middle East as a ‘distant possibility’ for the time being, some members of his entourage are very much in favour of such a move.
The publication explains that as things stand, the Barcelona hierarchy have not made a decision on Fati and want to see how he gets on at Brighton for the rest of the season.
Spurs Web Opinion
I suspect that the reason Tottenham walked away from the Fati deal in the summer is because of Barca’s unwillingness to include a permanent sale option in the loan deal. If the Catalan giants do put the 20-year-old up for sale next summer, I expect Spurs to reignite their interest.
