Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he is looking forward to working with Manor Solomon, adding that the winger is keen to prove himself at Tottenham Hotspur having joined the club just days before the pre-season tour.
Even though Solomon missed a big chunk of last season on loan at Fulham through injury, the winger showed plenty of promise once he regained his fitness in the second half of the season.
Tottenham fans will be hoping he can carry on from where he left off at Craven Cottage and perhaps even hit greater heights now that he is surrounded by better players.
The Athletic revealed earlier this month that Spurs beat a number of clubs to his signature, including Fulham and Barcelona, to land the 23-year-old.
Solomon has been a free agent since his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk was suspended when FIFA amended Annex 7 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The regulation change allowed foreign nationals employed in either country to unilaterally suspend their contracts if they wished to leave the region.
The Israeli international will certainly not find it easy to break into the starting eleven at Tottenham since he will be competing with the likes of Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevksi.
Postecoglou on what Manor Solomon can bring to Tottenham
However, Postecoglou revealed that the winger has already shown that he has the hunger to make a mark in N17.
When asked about Solomon, the Tottenham head coach told Football.London: “It’s great to get Manor in. He’s someone who was identified pretty early. People are well aware of the way I set my teams up and those attacking positions, particularly the wide attacking positions, are really important so you look for players that can have those characteristics.
“He’s also a young guy who’s really ambitious. I love working with guys who still have a great desire and fire in their belly to achieve. The same way Sonny spoke about still wanting to show people what he’s all about at Premier League level so bringing in guys like Manor, Madders and the three boys, who have added that energy which is great.
“I’m sure he will contribute and learn and develop. He’s got some fantastic role models at the club already to learn off and I’m sure he will be a really good contributor for us.”

Even if Solomon does not break into the starting eleven straightway, he would be an excellent impact substitute for Postecoglou to bring on, given his relentless energy off the ball and his directness on it. The 23-year-old is a really astute signing and is a considerable upgrade on Lucas Moura.
