Manor Solomon has admitted that his mind was made up about joining Tottenham as soon as he had a conversation with Ange Postecoglou.

Solomon had a tricky first season in the Premier League, having spent a significant portion of the 2022-23 campaign on the treatment table at Fulham but the winger did show plenty of promise once he regained full fitness.

According to reports, Spurs not only beat the Cottagers but also saw off competition from Barcelona to land the 23-year-old (The Athletic).

Solomon has now reflected on his time at Craven Cottage and opened up on his decision to move to N17.

Postecoglou was key in convincing Manor Solomon

He told Football.London: “Last for me because when I arrived at Fulham I got injured after the first game for half the year. So, it was difficult for me, but then I came back and I was really excited to play in the Premier League.

“Then once I had the opportunity to come to Spurs, and after I spoke with the manager, it was like 100 per cent for me. It’s a big opportunity for me to come to a big club like Spurs and I am looking forward to it, to help the club as much as possible.

“I had an amazing time at Fulham. I had a really good bond with the fans and Fulham, from the first moment, they were really kind to me.

“They really loved me and welcomed me from the first moment, but when you have the opportunity to come to a big club like Spurs, and if the manager wants you, it’s really hard to say no. So immediately when I heard about Spurs, I wanted to come here.”

The Lilywhites have historic ties to the Jewish community in London and are also well supported in Israel, and Solomon is sure that we will see plenty of his countrymen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

When asked about the club’s ties to the local Jewish community, Solomon said: “I know there is a big relationship with the Jewish community, and I know it is one of the best clubs in England, one of the biggest clubs in England.

“When I came here to the training ground, the stadium, I saw the facilities and everything, it was something incredible. It’s hard to find this, even in the biggest clubs in the world. I am really excited to be here, and I am really happy.

“Spurs have a lot [of fans in Israel]. I think Spurs is a big club without the relations to Judaism, but because there is this connection, I think there are more fans in Israel. It’s really a big community of Spurs lovers in Israel, so I am sure we will see them in the stadium.”

However, much like his manager, the Israeli international refused to spell out what the club’s objectives are for the season, insisting that the team is focused on playing good football and taking each game as it comes.

When asked what Tottenham are shooting for in the upcoming campaign, Solomon responded: “I cannot speak about a place in the table or position, but we will try to play good football, to entertain the fans and to have good results.

“When you are in a club like Spurs, the expectations are always high and I am sure with this manager, and the new staff coming, we will show good football and we will finish high in the table.”

While the Australian might not be as big a name as some of the managers Spurs have had over recent years, his communication skills are second to none, and that is already paying off for the club.
