Some Spurs fans on social media are delighted to hear about reports of Tottenham completing a deal for Sevilla winger Bryan Gil, with Erik Lamela set to go the other way.

Gill came through the Sevilla academy and went on to make his first-team debut for the club in 2019.

He has since had two loan spells with Leganes and Eibar, with the youngster particularly impressing in the latter, netting four goals and registering four assists for the club last season.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Sevilla have agreed to sell the 20-year-old to Spurs for a deal worth €25m, add ons, and Lamela.

If that is indeed the case, it means that the Argentine will be leaving the North London club eight seasons after joining from AS Roma.

The midfielder has been linked with a return to the Serie A over the past few weeks, but if Romano’s update is to be believed, the 29-year-old could now be on his way to Spain.

While some Spurs fans were pleased about the news, others admitted that they will miss Lamela.

There is always an element of risk involved in signing young talent as they might not live up to their potential. However, this does seem like a smart deal for Spurs since it was always going to prove difficult for the club to get a decent fee for Lamela this summer, particularly given that not many clubs around Europe have money to spend.
