Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Erik Lamela has already accepted a deal to join Sevilla this summer as a part of a player-plus-cash swap.
The transfer expert broke the news earlier today that Tottenham and Sevilla had come to an agreement for the swap, with Spurs paying €25m plus add-ons and Lamela in return for Bryan Gil from the Spanish club.
The 20-year-old winger featured 30 times on loan at Eibar in all competitions last season, scoring four and assisting another four (transfermarkt).
Such a deal would bring to an end eight years in North London for Lamela after Spurs paid £25.7m plus £4.2m in bonuses for him back in 2013 (BBC).
Sky Sports also reported today that Lamela was set to sign a three-year deal with Sevilla, with there being just one season left on his current contract with Spurs.
In a fresh update, Romano has claimed that the deal between Spurs and Sevilla is agreed, and Lamela has also given the thumbs up on his end, with Tottenham now discussing a contract with Gil.
He also added that the deal would be done in the coming hours, claiming that it would be Tottenham’s second signing of the summer after Atalanta goalkeeper, Gollini.
Spurs Web Opinion:
It appears that Spurs want to get their deadwood off the books while also bringing in new players this summer, so I would expect to see one or two more player-plus-cash deals out of Tottenham in the near future. This, all things considered, looks like a great deal.
