Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla will complete the contractual paperwork for the swap deal involving Bryan Gil and Erik Lamela in the next few hours.
Romano referred to the transfer as ‘confirmed and done’ with Sevilla also set to pocket a €25m (£21.5m) fee as part of the permanent transfer.
20-year-old Gil, who spent last season on loan at Eibar and is currently part of the Spain squad at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Lamela has been with Spurs since joining from AS Roma in 2013 but has been plagued by a number of injuries and a lack of consistent form that has seen him limited to just 257 appearances for the North Londoners (transfermarkt).
Gil would become Tottenham’s first signing of the Fabio Paratici era if confirmed, although there is speculation that Atalanta keeper Pierluigi Gollini is also set to sign (Evening Standard).

The transfer has come seemingly out of nowhere with no media outlets reporting about a hint of an interest in Gil until Romano broke the news yesterday.
