According to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (30/05/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Lazio are eyeing a move for Tottenham winger Bryan Gil this summer.

Bryan Gil has enjoyed a new lease of life since his return to Sevilla on loan and the winger now tasted European glory after the La Liga side defeated Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma in the Europa League Final.

It remains to see what the future holds for the 22-year-old and Corriere have suggested that he could soon be on his way to Italy.

The publication reveals that Maurizio Sarri is planning to revamp his Lazio squad after securing Champions League qualification and has identified the Spain international as a target.

The report explains that while the former Chelsea boss’ dream signing would be Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi, the club could go for a ‘less expensive’ option, with Gil being one of the names on their radar.

Corriere add that the winger will return to Tottenham this summer, potentially suggesting that Sevilla will not sign him permanently, and it is asserted that should the next Spurs head coach not fancy the player, Lazio could swoop for him this summer.

If we appoint a coach like Amorim or Postecoglou, who have a history of backing young players, then there is no reason to think that Gil cannot have a future at Spurs.

The 22-year-old’s talent is clear for all to see and if he impresses the new Tottenham head coach in pre-season, he could end up having a prominent role in North London in 2023-24.
