Alasdair Gold has revealed in his latest column for Football.London that Ange Postecoglou will assess Bryan Gil closely during pre-season as the Australian feels the winger has some of the attributes needed to thrive in his system.

Gold reveals that Tottenham are looking to sign a young winger this summer in order to compensate for the loss of two wide players in Arnaut Danjuma and Lucas Moura.

The North London club are said to be keen on signing a winger who can beat his man with pace and skill, is strong in transition, and is able to press high up the pitch.

It is alleged that Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski are seen as ‘perfect fits’ for the role while Richarlison could also be used wide if required, even though the Brazilian is seen as a more natural centre-forward in the Australian’s system.

Postecoglou wants to take a close look at Bryan Gil

Gold claims that is why Postecoglou wants to take a closer look at Gil as the Spaniard ticks ‘plenty of boxes’ for the new Spurs head coach.

The journalist asserts that the 57-year-old will look to see if the winger can fully adapt to Premier League football.

There is no doubt about Gil’s raw talent but the jury is out on whether he would be able to succeed in the Premier League.

If there is any coach that the Spaniard is likely to succeed under, it is Postecoglou, given the Australian’s preference for young players who look to beat their man and who work tirelessly out of possession.
