Alasdair Gold is intrigued to see whether Bryan Gil can force himself into the Tottenham team over the coming weeks and months, predicting that the winger is an ideal fit for the way Ange Postecoglou wants to play.
Gil would have perhaps felt hard done by at his lack of opportunities under Antonio Conte and the winger, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, would have hoped to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou during pre-season.
However, his hopes of doing so were quashed when he picked up a groin injury that sidelined him right from the start of pre-season.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon tried to sign the 22-year-old on loan during transfer deadline day but failed to do so owing to ‘financial or timing reasons’.
A few days ago, the Spain international took to social media to confirm that he will be back in action soon, and Gold has now suggested that the tricky wide-man can force himself into the team.
Bryan Gil will be looking to earn a Tottenham chance
The journalist said in a Q&A on Football.London: “Gil can play on either flank. I’m fascinated to see whether he can force his way into Postecoglou’s thinking.
“There’s a lot of competition now for those wide spots but the little Spaniard will fit nicely into the way the Australian wants his players to play. It’s all about whether he gets the minutes to show it though.”

Gil is certainly more direct and aggressive in taking on his man compared to Kulusevski and Son, which is something Ange wants to see from his wide players.
However, with Tottenham not in Europe and out of the Carabao Cup, the 22-year-old will likely struggle to get any game time over the coming months.
