The Athletic have revealed that the atmosphere at Tottenham was quite gloomy under Antonio Conte, which is why those at the club want the next head coach to be someone who can bring everyone together.

Antonio Conte has a history of falling out with his players and the same seemed to happen towards the end of his time at Tottenham, with the Italian accusing every single player of being selfish and playing for themselves in his final press conference as Spurs boss (ESPN).

The Athletic have now explained that according to some staff at the club, even when the team was fighting on three fronts at the start of the season, the atmosphere at the club was still ‘very gloomy’.

The publication reveals that there is a sense in N17 that the next manager has to be someone who brings the dressing room together as a ‘big of unity will go a long way to changing things’.

It is also believed that such a personality can create a sense of shared purpose and lift the mood around the football club.

I have no doubt that the man management aspect will be as important a consideration for the Tottenham hierarchy as the tactical aspect in their search for a new head coach.

The club desperately need a manager who takes pride in being Spurs boss and someone who can bring the fans and the players together after the divide that has occurred over the last few years.

That is one of the reasons why I think Arne Slot would be an appealing candidate for the club as he appears to be a character who is loved by his players.
