Juventus’ chief football officer Fabio Paratici has revealed that the club are confident that Paulo Dybala will put pen to paper on a new contract.
Dybala was said to have come close to a move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, with reports indicating that the deal only collapsed in the final moments due to issues over the player’s image rights (Independent).
The Argentine international is said to have even recorded a farewell video that was due to be released by Juve when he departed the Old Lady (La Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia).
The 27-year-old recently admitted in an interview with CNN that Tottenham did want to sign him last summer and that the Serie A champions were willing to let him leave.
The attacker’s fortunes in Turin have turned around since the failed move to North London and has become a key player for Maurizio Sarri this season, registering with 13 goals and 12 assists in all competitions (tranfermarkt.com).
Paratici has now confirmed that the Italian giants are in talks with the former Palermo man over a new deal.
The club’s chief football officer told Rai Sport (as relayed by 90 min): “We are not worried, as we started discussing the situation with Dybala and his entourage, so we are absolutely optimistic and confident.
“Everyone who goes to negotiate a contract wants an improvement, so that’s entirely logical.”

It was clear that last summer was the only oppurtunity we were going to get to land Dybala, with Sarri seemingly not convinced by him when he first arrived at Juve.
However, once we failed to land him, I always believed that Dybala was going to turn his form around and once again establish himself as an important player for the Serie A giants, and that is exactly what has happened.
