The Athletic have revealed that some at Tottenham were not happy with the way the academy had been neglected during Fabio Paratici’s spell at the club.
Paratici resigned from his position at Tottenham a few days ago after the appeal against his worldwide ban proved to be unsuccessful.
The Athletic have now explained there was hope at Spurs that the ban would be overturned on appeal and that he would return to his role as managing director.
The report states that Paratici retained Daniel Levy’s trust and that the Italian had been tasked with the responsibility of drawing up a shortlist of candidates to replace Antonio Conte.
However, while some of his colleagues at Tottenham saw him as ‘a positive, amiable presence’ at the training ground, others were allegedly riled by what they perceived as a sense of superiority.
The Athletic state that Paratici’s tendency to compare Spurs unfavourably with his previous club, Juventus, did not sit well with some at the North London club while others viewed his tendency to constantly berate officials from the dugout as being ‘classless’.
The publication asserts that there was also a ‘great deal of irritation in some quarters’ about the way the 50-year-old neglected the academy in his time in charge.

It is pretty evident that one of the reasons for Scott Munn’s appointment is to improve the way the academy is run, which was seemingly not a strong suit of Paratici’s.
While the Italian seems to have been a polarising figure at the club, there is no doubt that our recruitment did improve during the last four transfer windows.
