The Evening Standard have revealed that Tottenham are ‘reluctant’ to delay their search for a new manager despite currently being without a director of football.
Fabio Paratici resigned from his role at Spurs a few days ago after the appeal against his worldwide ban proved unsuccessful.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham were hoping that the ban would be overturned so the Italian could return to his role as managing director and spearhead the club’s search for Antonio Conte’s replacement.
The report alleged that the 50-year-old had been tasked with the responsibility of compiling a shortlist of options for the position.
With Paratici having been forced to resign, The Evening Standard have now revealed that Spurs want to appoint a new director of football over the coming weeks, with the club looking externally for the new candidate rather than promoting someone internally.
It is explained that ideally, the North London club would like to appoint a director first so that Paratici’s replacement would have a leading say on the identity of the new head coach.
However, the publication adds that the Lilywhites hierarchy ‘are reluctant to delay’ their search for a new manager any longer and with news breaking this morning suggesting that Stellini’s future is now in doubt, it could expedite things further (Telegraph).

One would expect Tottenham to already have some candidates in mind to replace Paratici, given that the Italian’s future at the club has been in doubt for quite a while.
I would not be surprised if Spurs also potentially consult Nagelsmann regarding his preference among the various directors that the club have shortlisted.
