90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have identified Sevilla sporting director Monchi as a potential replacement for Fabio Paratici.
Since Paratici’s resignation from Spurs last week after the appeal against his worldwide ban proved unsuccessful, multiple outlets have suggested that the North London club are expected to hire a new director to replace the Italian rather than promotion someone internally (Daily Mail and Evening Standard).
90 min have now asserted that Tottenham have been on the lookout for Paratici’s replacement since he was first charged towards the end of 2022.
The publication asserts that one of the names at the top of the club’s wishlist is Monchi, who is expected to leave Sevilla at the end of this season.
The 54-year-old rose to fame during his first spell at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, which went on for 17 years from 2000 to 2017, where he helped the club gain promotion to the top flight and establish themselves as a force in La Liga.
Monchi returned to Seville in 2019 after a brief period in charge of AS Roma but the Spaniard is reportedly set to leave in the summer after the club’s disappointing showing this campaign.

Monchi certainly has the experience for the role but it remains to be seen whether he or any other big-name sporting director would accept the job if they do not have an input in the club’s pursuit of a new head coach.
It seems likely at the moment that Tottenham will replace Conte before they replace Paratici.
