Football.London have suggested that Tottenham may not have things their own way in the search for Fabio Paratici’s replacement as Liverpool and Manchester United are also in the hunt for new directors.
Paratici resigned from his role at Tottenham last week after the appeal against his worldwide ban proved unsuccessful, with reports subsequently indicating that the North London club are expected to replace the Italian with an external candidate (Daily Mail).
The Evening Standard revealed a couple of days ago that while the Lilywhites would ideally appoint a director of football first before taking his input on which manager to hire, they are reluctant to put off their search for a new head coach any longer.
Football.London have now suggested that Spurs’ efforts to appoint a new director could be ‘complicated’ by the fact that two of their Premier League rivals are also looking to fill the same position this summer.
It is explained that Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan is overseeing the process of finding the Merseyside club’s third sporting director in less than 18 months after Julian Ward decided to step down at the end of the season.
The report adds that the Red Devils are also scouring the European market for a director to work alongside Erik Ten Hag, with former Tottenham head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, said to be in consideration for the role.

Given that a cloud has been hanging over Paratici’s future for a long time, one would hope that Tottenham have already laid the groundwork ahead of a potential move for the Italian’s replacement.
The club might also consult with Nageslmann regarding the appointment to help convince the German to take the job.
