The Daily Mirror have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have now decided to appoint a new director of football before finalising their plans to hire a new head coach.
Fabio Paratici resigned from his position as Spurs’ managing director of football last month after his worldwide ban was upheld, which means that the North London club are currently without a director, although Scott Munn has subsequently joined as the head of football operations.
Sky Germany reported last week that in Tottenham’s preliminary talks with Julian Nagelsmann, he made it clear that he wants clarity on which director he would be working under before taking the job.
If The Mirror’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have temporarily paused their managerial search and are now stepping up their pursuit of a replacement for Paratici.
The publication adds that Benfica sporting director Rui Pedro Braz is one of the names in contention for the role at Hotspur Way.

Hiring a director first and listening to their input on the new head coach role would make a lot more sense than doing it the other way around.
However, the club would need to move swiftly if they do not want to risk repeating the fiasco of two years ago.
