Tottenham looked to be effectively out of the title race after the 1-0 loss against Manchester United last month which put them 9 points behind league leaders Liverpool. With Spurs being knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in the space of foyr days, the mood surrounding the club was all doom and gloom.
This all changed on Wednesday night as Spurs came back from a goal down against Watford to turn it around with two late goals in the final ten minutes. With Man City losing to Newcastle and Liverpool drawing with Leicester, the result put Spurs right back in the title race as they now find themselves just two points off City and seven off Liverpool.
Son Heung-Min who played his first game since returning from the Asia Cup was a menace for the Watford defence throughout the game and eventually got his reward as he bagged the equaliser in the 80th minute.
Speaking after the game, the South Korean international was adamant that Spurs are still in the title race.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Son said, “‘I don’t care that people are saying Liverpool or Man City. ‘We are still there, we’re going for it.
“We’ll see what is going to happen at the end of the season. They’re very good sides like us. We have to just focus on ourselves. Every single game, get three points, that’s most important. The season is still long.
“We don’t want to think about it. So many things can happen, you can’t even imagine. We just believe in our own games, get as many points as possible, and see what happens at the end of the season.”
