Tottenham Hotspur reclaimed their briefly challenged third spot in the Premier League last night after a solid 2-0 win away to Leicester City.
Both London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea momentarily overtook the Lilywhites after winning their respective games yesterday, but their Tottenham toppling was short-lived.
Thanks to goals from Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli, Spurs not only solidified their third place position, but also made up ground on the former-leaders Manchester City.
Son’s opening goal was something straight out the top drawer, and flew straight in the top corner; a curled but fierce strike from outside the penalty area.
The South Korean has been on top form in recent weeks, ever since he masterminded the battering of Chelsea at Wembley, a fixture Spurs won 3-1.
With the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen rested last night due to heavy game time, Son really needed to step up as the lead striker, and that he did.
Pochettino had this to say on the Korean (Football London): “Yes, I’m so happy after the international break. The first few months of the competition a little bit disappointed because he struggled a lot. But after rest and avoiding going with the national team, I think he was so focused in trying to improve and today he improved a lot from Chelsea and now we are so happy with his contribution and performance. That is the player that we want and expect that energy from.”
