Tottenham Hotspur ensured that the North London derby was only a minor speed bump in their festive period after securing two wins in the past week.
Spurs started with a 3-1 win at home over struggling Southampton, before following up with a solid 2-0 victory away to Leicester.
It is now once again the club’s best ever start to a Premier League season, heading into a period where they are known to do extremely well.
Since Poch took over as manager, Spurs have picked up a staggering number of points over the Christmas period, perhaps as their superior fitness begins to show.
Once man who has been particularly impressive in recent weeks is Heung Min Son, who scored against both the Saints and the Foxes.
His strike against Leicester yesterday was straight out the top drawer, and flew straight into the top corner.
This follows his superb and relentless outing against Chelsea, in which he again added a wonderful solo goal.
Ex-Spurs man Dimitar Berbatov has been left raving about the South Korean (Sky Sports): “Unbelievable. You know I was joking earlier that he is free to play the way he wants, free of thinking about going to the army (after winning gold at the Asian Games).
“Joke aside, he is great with his feet, speed – I remember in the Chelsea game when he outran Jorginho on the wing, making him look like an average player.
“He’s someone who’s making, creating, scoring, running, everything for the team. (For his assist v Leicester) This is a pass with intention. He sees him, he waits for the right moment for when the defender was thinking: ‘Do I need to cover him or not?’ Look at that pass. Unbelievable.”
