Harry Redknapp has claimed that Son Heung-min is already developing a great understanding with James Maddison, just like the one he had with Harry Kane.
The Kane-Son link-up became quite a trademark at Spurs, with the England captain always seeming to have an intuitive understanding of the runs that the South Korean would be making off the ball.
The pair have combined for more goals than any other duo in Premier League history, beating out the record set by Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (talkSPORT).
Heung-min Son named in Team of the Week
Maddison has now taken over the playmaking duties that were previously performed by Kane, with the 26-year-old already appearing to have developed a great understanding with Son.
The new Tottenham captain has described playing with the former Leicester City man as ‘a joy’, admitting that the Lilywhites have been crying out for a player like him for several years (Guardian).
Redknapp believes that the ease with which Son is now linking up with Maddison shows how intelligent the 31-year-old is.
The former Tottenham manager named Son in his Premier League team of the week and told Bet Victor: “Son’s got the armband now and he was superb against Burnley. Spurs are on fire right now and destroyed Burnley.
“Son obviously had a great relationship with Harry Kane and he’s linking up very well with Maddison. That shows what an intelligent player this lad is.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Son’s movement of the ball is up there with the best in the world. The South Korean has a natural understanding of what position to pick up, with Tottenham’s fourth goal against Burnley being a prime example.
Rather than dashing into the box when Solomon picked up the ball out wide, Son just slowed down and drifted into space so that he could be available for the cut-back.
